Blacksburg Baseball Association

Spring 2008 Middle School Baseball Program Info

The BBA offers a baseball program for Blacksburg Middle School students. The purpose of the program is to ease the transition into Blacksburg High School JV Baseball. The players play on a full sized field, and at the same time of the year as the JV and Varsity players (Late Feb-May). We are part of the Central Virginia Middle School Club League. Opponents will include middle school teams from Christiansburg, Pulaski, Lord Botetourt, Salem, Brookville, EC Glass, Jefferson Forest, Liberty, Staunton River, Altavista, Heritage, Liberty Christian Academy, Rustburg, and William Campbell.

Flyers have been posted around the Blacksburg Middle School by Coach Shockley. Sign-up date is February 26, 2008, at 7am, in the Middle School cafeteria. See Coach Shockley for a player/parent handout, or download it below.

Tryout schedule is as follows:
  • Thursday, February 29: Kipps
  • Friday, March 1: Kipps
  • Saturday, March 2: BHS
  • Sunday, March 3: Old Christiansburg Middle School
Jim Shockley, the Blacksburg High School Varsity Baseball Coach, has donated used school uniforms to the program, and provides administrative support. Home games will be played on the Blacksburg High School Baseball Field. The BBA covers the entire cost of operating the teams, through a fee charged to the players. Announcements for the program (tryouts, practices, rain outs) are handled through the school and Coach Shockley.
