Spring 2006 Baseball Season SummaryThe Blacksburg Baseball Association provided for regular season play in three age divisions during the Spring 2006 season, which began in April and went through June. The original 11-12 year-old division finished its fifth Spring season, fielding 5 teams. The 9-10 year-old division completed its fourth season, fielding 4 teams. The coach-pitch division for 7-8 year-olds, in its third season, fielded 4 teams. The Blacksburg teams competed against each other, and against teams from Christiansburg, Auburn, Shawsville, and Radford.After the regular season, the 9-10 and 11-12 divisions fielded All-Star teams. The 9-10 All-Star team reached the semi-finals, finishing third in the District Tournament held in Christiansburg. The 11-12 All-Star team reached the semi-finals, finishing fourth in the District Tournament. The 11-12 Patrick County team, which one the District Tournament, also won the State Tournament and will be representing Virginia in the Dixie Youth Baseball World Series in Goodlettsville, TN. The BBA also fielded a Middle School teams in the spring with the support of Blacksburg's Varsity Coach, Jim Shockley. The team played in the Central Virginia Middle School League. Opponents included middle school teams from Christiansburg, Rustburg, Salem, Staunton River, Brookville, E.C. Glass, Heritage, Jefferson Forest, and Liberty, Rustburg, and Liberty Christian Academy.
